A Career of Success

A lifelong Edmontonian, Tyler attended Strathcona High School before going on to the University of Alberta to study Mechanical Engineering. He then attended the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan. In Saskatoon Tyler served as an editor of the Saskatchewan Law Review and participated in the school’s Securities Law moot team. Upon receiving his law degree with distinction Tyler completed his articles with the national law firm of Bennett Jones LLP in Calgary before returning to Edmonton to commence his legal practice.

Tyler’s practice focuses upon employment law and corporate and business law.

In his employment law work, Tyler has advised hundreds of clients in a wide variety of employment law situations. He has successfully obtained six-figure judgments against some of Alberta’s largest employers.

Tyler’s work in corporate law includes advising a variety of diverse clientele, including realtors, medical professionals, trades workers, and small business owners.

Tyler also has significant experience in real estate transactions, wills and estate matters, and guardianship and trusteeship applications.

His courtroom experience focuses primarily upon employment litigation and estate litigation. He has represented clients in adjudications under the Canada Labour Code and before both the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench.

Tyler has been active in the Canadian Bar Association, having previously held the position of Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Real Property Law Section for Northern Alberta and having been a member of the Executive of the Canadian Bar Association Elder Law Section for Northern Alberta.

In his free time Tyler enjoys reading on a variety of subjects and is an undaunted Edmonton Oilers fan.

Tyler has previously volunteered for a number of years with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and and was a member of the board of Selections Career Support Services (2011-2013).
